To boost consumer demand, Nokia is looking at extending the equated monthly instalment facility to its consumers for its high-end smart phones.

The company launched Nokia N97 in Kolkata on Tuesday. Priced in the range of Rs 30,000-35,000, the phone will be available in EMIs in select cities.

The exact price will be announced in the last week of this month.

The company has partnered with HDFC and Citibank to provide a three-month EMI option at zero per cent interest to boost consumer demand and increase competition.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch, Saurav Mukherjee, regional general manager-east said, "We are starting this EMI facility with the Nokia N97 for the first time. If we get good response, then we might replicate it with future launches."

A company spokesperson said, "The phone has been launched across India, pre-booking has commenced from Monday and the response is pretty good."
