Two India-origin individuals -- Sandeep Malhotra and Sanjee Shah -- have found a place in the league of 40 rising stars in the European wealth management industry.
The list of 40 people for 2009, all of whom below the age of 40 years, has been compiled by Wealth-Bulletin.com, an online news and analysis service for the global wealth management industry.
"Under the age of 40 years, Boris Collardi, chief executive of Bank Julius Baer, has again topped WealthBulletin's list of 40 Rising Stars aged under 40 in European wealth management in 2009.
"Since winning last year's poll Collardi has moved up to one of the most powerful roles in European wealth management, heading Bank Julius Baer," the report said.
Sandeep Malhotra is the head of global investment strategy at Zurich-based Clariden Leu while Sanjee Shah is a partner at London's Speechly Bircham.
According to the report, many were chosen this year because of their performance during the toughest financial markets any of them would have known in their lifetimes.
"Those lucky enough to make the list have proven their mantle and are likely to go on and achieve even greater things in the years ahead," it added.
The report noted that 38-year-old Malhotra is considered by his peers as investment guru worth following, predicting many of the problems engulfing the world's economy in the last 18 months.
"Shah, 33, was promoted to partner at Speechly Bircham's private client practice last month and is considered one of the rising stars among private client lawyers in London.
"She joined Speechly Bircham from Allen & Overy and deals with some of the world's wealthiest families and family offices," the report said.
Apart from Collardi, Marc Pictet, chief executive of Luxembourg-based Bank Pictet, Tiffany Troxel who is a senior financial adviser at London's Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, Bianca Watts, the executive director of London-based Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management and Adrian Kunzi, managing partner at Wegelin & Co, St Gallen, also feature in the top five.
Other names in the list of 40 include Christo Scott, director at London-based HSBC Private Bank, Amir Sadr who is the head of the Middle East wealth management at Merrill Lynch, London and Emma Perez, managing director at SG Hambros, Gibraltar.
