The country's largest software exporter, Tata Consultancy Services said its consolidated profit rose by 29.20 per cent to Rs 1,642.21 crore (Rs 16.42 billion) for the second quarter this fiscal.
Total income moved up to Rs 7,426.6 crore (Rs 74.27 billion) during the period under review from Rs 6,784.4 crore (Rs 67.84 billion) in the same period previous fiscal, TCS said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
On a standalone basis, the company has reported a net profit of Rs 1,347.6 crore (Rs 13.48 billion) in the latest quarter, up 14.88 per cent from the same period corresponding fiscal.
The total income rose to Rs 5,719 crore (Rs 57.19 billion) for the quarter ended September 30, against Rs 5,520.7 crore (Rs 55.21 billion) in the same quarter corresponding fiscal.
The board has proposed an interim dividend of Rs two per share to the shareholders of the company, the filing added.
Shares of TCS on Friday closed at Rs 599 on the BSE, up 2.84 per cent from its previous close.
