Angry workers beat up auto component firm manager

A fistA senior manager of an auto component firm was badly beaten up by agitating workers in Gurgaon on Tuesday. The workers weredemanding filing of a police complaint against top RICO officials in connection with the death of a worker.

The incident occurred around 10 am when deputy general manager of RICO Auto, Sanjiv Arya, was entering the plant in a van under police escort, senior vice president of RICO Surender Singh said.

The enraged workers stopped the van, pulled him out and beat him up despite presence of police, he said.

Hundreds of workers of RICO Auto and another private auto component firms gathered outside the main gate of the RICO office, demanding that an FIR be lodged against top RICO officials, including managing director Arvind Kapoor in connection with the death of 26-year-old Ajit Kumar Yadav.

On October 18, Yadav died of his injuries, which he sustained during a clash between two groups of company employees in Gurgaon, sparking tension in the area and prompting his agitated colleagues to stage protests.

Meanwhile, the police have clamped prohibitory orders in the area.
