GoogleAfter BlackBerry, the government has set its eyes on Internet-based messaging and other services from Google and Skype.

The government is likely to send communications soon to search engine Google and internet telephony provider Skype for giving access to their services for monitoring and setting up a server in India.

"There will be no discrimination. All networks operating in India will have to give access to their services to law enforcement agencies. They will have to set up a server in India. We will soon send a communication to them," a senior government official said.

They (Google and Skype) would be asked to give full access or else they will have to close down their services in India, the official said.

The development came immediately after makers of BlackBerry, Research in Motion, agreed to set up a server in India to address security concerns of the Union Home Ministry.
