A section of employees of auto-maker, Hyundai Motor India  went on a flash strike at the company's production unit at nearby Sriperumbudur on Monday, demanding reinstating over 60 employees dismissed last year on grounds
of ''unruly practices.''

While trade union leaders could not be reached, police, however, confirmed that a section of employees staged a flash strike pressing the demand.

The Hyundai management said it had already reinstated 20 of the 87 persons dismissed in December last on ''humanitarian grounds,'' based on negotiations held in the presence of state government officials and an agreement reached in this regard.

''As per the agreement, this strike and demand for the reinstatement of the rest is not legal. We hope the state government intervenes to ensure a solution to this matter,'' a company spokesperson said.
