TelecomAnil Ambani-led Reliance Communications said on Friday it exited BWA auction a week back after bid prices overshot its estimates.

"RCom exited BWA spectrum auction as auction prices significantly exceeded business case estimates," an RCom spokesperson said.

The government has raised over Rs 38,300 crore (Rs 383 billion) from the 16-day long auction for Broadband Wireless Access spectrum, which closed on Friday.

RCom, which offers both CDMA and GSM services, will focus on providing broadband wireless through its 3G-ready pan-India CDMA network, he added.

The company has won licences for 3G services in 13 circles out of the 22 telecom circles in the country.

The ADA Group company said it may continue to evaluate WiMAX opportunities on case-by-case basis in India and other geographies.

The BWA auction saw participation from 11 companies, including Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Essar, Idea Cellular, Aircel, Qualcomm among others.

Internet service provider Infotel has emerged as the sole pan-India winner in BWA spectrum auction and will pay Rs 12,872.52 crore (Rs 128.72 billion).
