Xerox Corporation on Wednesday opened the India Innovation Hub in Chennai, which will bring together Xerox scientists and engineers with Indian academic institutions, research labs and industry partners.
The centre's initial mission is to develop document management solutions that are relevant to emerging market countries and contribute innovation to solutions and services delivery, Xerox said in a statement.
"The Xerox India Innovation Hub exemplifies our continued commitment to customers in the emerging markets. Creating a research facility in India allows us to make use of local knowledge and to extend that expertise to our global initiatives," Xerox chief technology officer and Xerox Innovation Group president Sophie Vandebroek said.
The research will leverage Xerox's expertise in imaging, data mining, smart document management, linguistics, and ethnography with technologies like cloud and web computing, human computation, social networks and computational economics, she added.
Xerox also plans to open a Xerox technology showroom adjacent to its India headquarters in Gurgaon later this year, which will house the latest technology developments from the company's research centres globally.
