The company, reportedly, plans to phase out its existing H/MCVs and replace those with the new World Truck, though all variants of the latter will be more expensive than Tata Motors' current range of trucks.

Tata Motors' world truck has been developed with the company's subsidiary, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle. Built on a completely new platform and powered by 185-565HP engines, the new truck will be a state-of-the-art product and will take on trucks from Volvo, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, MAN and others. "The World Truck comprising 300HP engines have already been launched in India, while the higher HP variants will be launched for the global markets," said a senior company official.

Tata Motors, the world's sixth largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, produces more than 150 commercial vehicle models with a range of light, medium to heavy duty trucks, buses and tractor-trailers. Over three million Tata vehicles are believed to ply on Indian roads.
