A member of the Virginia Tech community since 1985, Sen has published in leading journals, including Management Science, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Decision Support Systems, and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics.
He was conferred with the prestigious title by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors.
He served on the editorial review board of the Journal of Information Systems and participated in several National Science Foundation review panels, Virginia Tech said in a media release.
The title of emeritus may be conferred on retired professors and associate professors, administrative officers, librarians, and exceptional staff members who are specially recommended to the board of
visitors by Virginia Tech President Charles W Steger, it said.
Sen served as associate dean of graduate and international programmes and director of the Master of Business Administration programmes.
He launched the university's first Executive MBA program in the National Capital Region and the joint Master in Information Technology programme between Virginia Tech and S P Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai.
Sen served on numerous dissertation committees and taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels most recently teaching in the Master of Information Technology program in the National Capital Region.
He received his PhD from the University of Iowa.
