Automobile sector saw a huge spurt in sales in September as per figures that poured in on Friday.
Maruti Suzuki India reported its highest-ever monthly sales of 1,08,006 units in September, translating into a 29.65 per cent increase vis-a-vis the year-ago period.
Sales in the same month last year stood at 83,306 units, Maruti Suzuki India said. "This is the highest ever total monthly sales by the company. The previous highest was 1,04,791 units in August, 2010," it added.
This was the fourth time this fiscal that the company's monthly sales figure crossed the 100,000-mark.
Hyundai sales up 14.2%: Hyundai Motor reported a 14.2 per cent jump in domestic sales to 31,751 units in September, its highest-ever monthly sales since inception in 1998.
The company sold 27,803 units in the domestic market in September, 2009, Hyundai Motor India Ltd said. The previous monthly sales record of 31,501 units was achieved by the company in March this year.
Toyota Kirloskar's sales surge 8%: Toyota Kirloskar Motor too reported an 8.47 per cent jump in its sales at 6,235 units during September.
The company had sold 5,748 units in the corresponding month last year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said.
TKM, a joint venture between the world's largest carmaker Toyota and the Kirloskar Group, attributed the growth to the healthy sales of its multi-utility vehicle Innova, premium sedan Corolla Altis and sports-utility vehicle Fortuner.
M&M tractors sales stands at 16,300 units: Mahindra & Mahindra said on Friday it has sold 16,300 tractors in September, lesser than the 16,359 units sold in the domestic market in the year-ago period.
The company's total tractor sales (domestic and exports), however, jumped 3 per cent at 17,481 units in September, as against 16,986 units for the same period last year.
Mahindra exported 1,181 tractors in September, an 88 per cent increase, as against 627 units for the same period last year.
