Global IT service provider, Capgemini, on Wednesday said it will hire 500 people in India for its Business Information Management (BIM) service line, taking the total number to 2,000 by end-this year.

"We have 1,500 professionals in India and plan to hire 500 more for our business information management (BIM) service line by December 2010," Capgemini's Global Leader, Business Information Management, Paul Nannetti, told PTI.

The company has employed 5,000 people globally for its BIM service line. "We have seen a 48 per cent growth (in the BIM service line) in the first-half of this year and expect a 52 per cent growth by December 2010," he said.

Capgemini India manages more than 70 clients which include global as well domestic players. "We have good clients both in India and overseas markets. We will add more clients in the coming days," Nannetti said.

Capgemini plans to make India its global hub of innovations and will start eight more Centres for Excellence (CoE) by December 2010. "We currently have 12 CoEs operating in India and we will start eight more CoEs to increase the total number to 20 by December 2010," he said.

"India is at the heart of innovation for Capgemini. We have been investing significantly in our centers of excellence, which are catering to global clients. These innovation hubs are helping us bridge the gap between business and technology and building immense value to the overall growth of the group," he added.
