'Budget won't benefit middle-class'

Kavita Mishra is an astrologer by profession. She says the stars foretell a level of 12,000 for the Sensex, after which it will slowly pick up momentum.

However, she doesn't see how the aam aadmi or the middle class will benefit much from the Budget. "I don't see it that way."

She laments the fact that the budgetary proposals will lead to a drop in prices of LCD televisions and big cars. "What use is this for the common person?" she asks.

The finance minister has done nothing to make a working housewife happy, she says.

The price hike in the rates of petrol and diesel will also lead to an increase in the prices of items we use daily, including food, thereby fuelling inflation. "How can you sustain such a rise in prices of basic commodities?"

Although Kavita is not too happy with the Budget she rates it at 7 because of the women-centric policy measures that includes an increase of Rs 10,000 in the income tax exemption limit and spending money on women-centric initiatives.
