No open-ended chequebook for Air India: Praful Patel

The government is ready to help Air India, Aviation Minister Praful Patel said on Wednesday.

Laying down certain conditions, he said the struggling national carrier must become leaner and trimmer to secure backing it needs to get through the present liquidity crunch.

Patel did not say how much cash would be made available, but said the airline would not be given an open-ended chequebook.
