Toyota Prius: A new hybrid on the block

After having successfully launched cars like Innova, Corolla, Camry and Fortuner here, the Japanese auto major Toyota is all set to launch Prius its first hybrid for the Indian market.

Toyota has secured orders for about 54 units of Prius from the Indian market. An official of Toyota Kirloskar Motors was heard saying, "Our plans remain absolutely unchanged. Bookings had started by January and the vehicles will be delivered by March-end or April beginning."

This statement has come after Toyota recalled thousands of models globally.

The aggressive and large front Air Dam accompanied by stylish headlights make the car appealing to look at.

The use of halogen projector lamps makes the front look all the more beautiful to look at.

Also the 15" alloy wheels and the LED tail lamps give the rear a tough macho look.

To provide and an instinctive sense of control there is a very clear separation of the 'command zone' around the centre cluster, and the 'display zone' of the centre meters.

The instruments are so placed that they minimize eye movement and help concentrate. The beautiful finish of the interiors and the ample of space make it very elegant and comfortable car. The car also has enough luggage space.

The safety features in the car are top class. Prius has a ABS with EDB braking system, 7 SRS air bags, active headrests and most importantly a crash safety body to make you feel very safe inside the car.

Prius promises exceptional fuel efficiency and offers advanced design and powerful driving performance. The Prius also answers environmental needs thereby taking the auto industry into the next era.

Prius has been awaited since the Auto expo where TKM had announced its launch in January.

Prius is priced between Rs 26.55 lakh (Rs 2.65 million) and Rs 27.86 lakh (Rs 2.78 million) (ex-showroom New Delhi) .

Toyota plans on selling about 200 units, which have been ordered from its parent plant, between March-December this year.
