Maruti Suzuki continues to dominate the Indian automobile market with its best-selling cars like Alto, WagonR and Swift.
Maruti Alto has maintained its position of India's best-selling model.
# 1: Maruti Alto
Sales in fiscal year 2009: 212,568.
Maruti Alto is India's best-selling car. The small car is still a darling of the Indian middle class due to its price, fuel economy and reliability. Another reason for its success is that it is easy to drive on congested Indian roads. This compact car also takes less space to park due to its size.
Launched in 2004, Alto has maintained its best-selling position in spite of the launch of new small cars by global auto majors. It had become India's first car to sell more than 200,000 units in one financial year.

The premium hatchback Swift is performing well for India's largest auto maker Maruti Suzuki. Within one year of its launch it became one of the highest selling cars in India.
Launched in 2005, the car has so much demand in the market that customers have to wait for months to get the car delivered to them. The car is popular due to its sleek design and driving experience.
The fastest selling car of its category, Swift crossed the sales mark of 300,000 units in the domestic market in February 2009. Swift is available in both petrol and diesel options.
# 5: Hyundai i10
Sales in fiscal year 2009: 106,095
The hatchback i10 has become the best-selling Hyundai model in India. The sporty looks, high-end technology and fine driving experience make i10 a best seller.
Launched in October 2007, the hatchback soon became one of the fastest selling cars in the country.
Now i10 is available with Kappa engine delivering power of 80ps@5200rpm along with improved fuel economy. The refined engine offers better fuel economy and is low on emissions.
# 6: Hyundai Santro
Sales in fiscal year 2009: 91,478
Santro was the first car model launched by the South Korean car maker Hyundai in India. It soon became one of the best-selling models of the country.
Santro is popular due to its pricing, fuel economy and dependability. The car is easy to drive and has a refined engine. The cutting edge engine of the car delivers peak power and optimal mileage. Santro is easy to drive on congested city roads and is also easy to park due to its size.
Hyundai launched LPG version of Santro in October 2008.
