The Chinese-made leaf concept car, BYD e6, was the highlight of the auto show.
It is touted as the best model for zero carbon dioxide emission. The leaf concept car has been designed by the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation.
The car has photovoltaic cells on the roof of the 'leaf'. It draws energy from the solar cells. It can car can also draw wind energy through four turbines located on each of the car's wheels. There is option for adjusting the energy level of the car.
The Beijing Auto Show 2010 saw as many as 800,000 people visiting the exhibition, with as many as 990 cars from various global manufacturers on display.
There were as many as 89 new car models on show, apart from 95 'green' or energy-saving vehicles, and 65 concept cars.
In 2009, China overtook the United States as the world's largest auto market.
