The Boeing Business Jet series are variants of Boeing airliners for the corporate jet market. The aircraft usually seats between 25 and 50 passengers in a luxurious space.

This includes a master bedroom, a washroom with showers, a conference, dining area, and a living area.

The Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) is a partnership between Boeing Commercial Airplanes and General Electric.

The BBJ3 has been developed from the 737-900ER airframe design, which is capable of delivering better performance in terms of extended range, higher speed, lower noise levels and lower emissions over previous models in the Boeing 737 range.

BBJ3 is equipped with a new long-range fuel system. The majority of the material used in the jet's body is aluminum and around 7 per cent is composite.

The wings have blended winglets, which are supplied by Aviation Partners Boeing (APB).

These blended winglets reduce block fuel burn, noise level and engine maintenance costs, and increase fuel mileage, range and altitude capability.

The flight deck incorporates similar features to the Boeing 737-900ER. It accommodates two crew including (pilot and co-pilot). The flight deck features a new head-up display.

BBJ3 is equipped with a future air navigation system (FANS), which allows uninterrupted communication between flight crews and air-traffic controllers.

A decade ago, Boeing and General Electric launched Boeing Business Jets, providing private owners, heads of state, corporate leaders and charter companies with a long-range airplane that offers three times the interior space of traditional business jets with similar range capability.

Private individuals comprise 43 percent of the BBJ customer base. About 35 percent are government heads of state, 12 percent are corporate operators and the remaining 10 percent are charter operators.

The BBJ was launched 2 July 1996, and was followed by the BBJ 2 on 11 October 1999.
