The Pulse is designed for the rapidly growing Indian premium compact car market and sports a dynamic design with advanced features such as the smart access key which enables the car to be opened and started by just pushing a button or the mirror that automatically folds when the door is locked that helps position it at the top - end of the A-B segment.

Other features of Renault Pulse include keyless entry, chrome handlebars, cup holders for rear seat passengers, power windows, power steering, rear seats with head rests and thigh support, 15" alloys, powerful headlights with dual-beam, beige colored interiors giving it a classy feel, and much more.

The Pulse will feature the K9K engine that has proven highly popular not just in India, but around the world.

Renault Pulse will be manufactured alongside Nissan Micra at their co-owned manufacturing unit in Chennai.

Analysts expect Renault Pulse to be priced approximately between Rs 600,000 to Rs 800,000.

In this price range, Renault Pulse will take on cars like Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Swift, etc.

The Pulse was designed by Renault's Design Center in Mumbai and will be manufactured in the Alliance's plant in Chennai, which will also manufacture the engine.

The plant complies fully with Alliance quality standards and its production management system based on mutual knowledge-sharing and the best practices of both Renault and Nissan.

Products by both companies can be seamlessly combined on the same assembly line.

By using Nissan's existing V platform, Renault has been able to reduce development costs and lead times substantially.

The Pulse is thus a prime example of the synergies generated by the Alliance.

The Renault Pulse goes on sale on India in January, 2012.
