Vendor reveals engine details of the Tata Nano diesel

The Tata Nano diesel is one of the eagerly anticipated products in the small car space.

The diesel variant carries the huge responsibility of reviving the ailing sales of Nano. Currently the capacity at the Sanand plant is being under utilised due to lack of demand.

Tata Motors has announced earlier that the Nano diesel will be coming later this year, following the CNG variant.

The company is simultaneously working on a facelift of the car and we believe that the diesel variant will be launched in the facelifted package.

The 800cc twin cylinder common rail diesel engine is shared with the Tata Ace DICOR. According to the website, the rated power stands at 30 KW (40.2 bhp) which is adequate considering the Nano's size and weight.

With the diesel Nano, Tata Motors gets an opportunity to steer the hatchback up and away from its cheapest car in the world tag.
