Toyota to launch Etios Cross on May 7

According to a report on Autocar India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will launch the Toyota Etios Cross on May 7.

The Etios Cross had its Indian debut at the Auto Expo in February, post which pre-bookings for the car commenced at dealerships pan India.

Toyota announced three engine options for the Cross. The base model gets a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol producing 80 PS at 5,600 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 3,100 rpm, while a higher-displacement 1.5-litre petrol (taken from the Etios Liva TRD Sportivo) produces 90 PS at 5,600 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm.

The diesel variant is powered by a 1.4-liter motor developing 68 PS at 3,800 rpm and 170 Nm of torque between 1,800-2,400 rpm.

All engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

On the outside, the Cross gets a new body colour option, plastic body cladding at the front, rear and sides, skid guards for the front and rear bumper, roof rails and diamond cut alloy wheels.

Safety features will come in the form of ABS, EBD and dual front airbags.

The Etios Cross will be made available in eight body colour options.

The Cross will compete with the Cross Polo from VW and the upcoming Avventura from Fiat, which is due to launch by the end of this year.
