We still mourn his death. Hansie was and will always be remembered as South Africa's best captain. Message: I think it is a great shame that all the people who tried their best to project that they were not associated with Cronje, after his admission in the match fixing scandal, are coming out now with inspirational rhetoric. I believe that the life ban imposed on him was way too harsh, considering the fact that he admitted to it and accepted that he was wrong. Afterall noone is perfect and in my opinion, by accepting and repenting for the wrong that he did, Cronje deserves much more credit than many of the other cricketers involved in this scandal, from many different countries, who have all vehemently denied their involvement even in the face of overwhelming proof against them. It is a deplorable fact that many of them have gone scot free and are still playing (match fixing?) for their respective countries. I would say all those people who dis-associated themselves with Cronje at a crucial point in his life, including the fickle South African public and press, should leave him alone at least now and not come out with eye-catching rhetoric. Here is a man who even after accepting and admitting and above all deeply regretting what he did, was not given what he was due, not even by his own countrymen, let alone the rest of the world.
