On Thursday, September 5, 2002, India take on England in the fourth and final Test at the Oval. All eyes will be on the game, not just because it is the deciding Test of the ongoing series, with India gunning for its first overseas Test series win in more than 16 years, but mainly because Sachin Tendulkar will be playing his 100th Test.

When Tendulkar made his Test debut in Pakistan as a 16 year old in 1989, connoisseurs predicted the boy would break every batting record. Thirteen years later, he has lived up to his promise, scoring more than 11,000 runs and 33 centuries in one-day cricket, both world records, and 8,351 runs and 30 hundreds in Tests.
