Hyderabad fast bowler Narinder Pal Singh claimed six wickets for 31 runs and sent Karnataka crashing for 100 in their first innings in the 'Elite B' Ranji Trophy match at the Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad on Tuesday.
His fine showing enabled Hyderabad take a 77-run first innings lead.
At close of play on day 2, Hyderabad were 187 for 6.
Karnataka, who resumed at 64 for 3, never got going as Singh troubled every batsman with his line and pace. They lost seven wickets in the space of 36 runs before folding for 100.
Singh ripped through the visitors' batting line-up, dismissing Rowland Barrington (28), Venkatesh Prasad (2), V S Thilak Naidu (3), Stuart Binny (1), Sunil Joshi (8) and N C Aiyappa (1).
The only batsman to withstand the onslaught was C Raghu, who remained unbeaten on 16.
Singh, who claimed six of the seven wickets that fell, joined the elite club of 250 wicket-takers when he dismissed last-man Aiyappa for one.
The hosts started their second essay in style, with opener Daniel Manohar adding 54 runs for the first wicket with A Nandkishore (38) and 50 runs for the third wicket with Vinay Kumar (33) on way to a fluent 57, which had seven fours in it.
Arjun Yadav (14) and Shivaji Yadav (0) were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
Hyderabad now have a lead of 264 runs with four wickets in hand and two days of play left.
