Unbeaten half-centuries by Vivek Kolambkar and Mandar Phadke helped Goa score 200 runs for the loss of three wickets on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Plate Group B match against Maharashtra in Pune on Tuesday.
Kolambkar gave the team a good start by scoring 62 runs off 240 balls with six hits to the fence. Swapnil Asnodka chipped in with 49 runs.
Two batsmen, Sagun Kamat and Rajesh Naik, could not keep up the tempo and were sent to the pavilion with single digit scores.
But Phadke helped the team recover by scoring 68 runs off 170 balls with two sixes and five hits to the fence.
For Maharashtra, Ranjit Khirid took two wickets and Kashinath Khadkikar one.
Kolambkar and Phadke were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
