'I can never break ties with the film world and India'
A chat with Madhuri Dixit on her last visit to India for a while
|
It's finally official.
Madhuri Dixit is glowing not because of the Emami products that she is endorsing or because the Rs 500 million Devdas is headed for the Oscars.
The actress is three months pregnant and her baby is due in April, she tells
Arti R:
Why the secrecy about your pregnancy?
I am terribly superstitious. Nazar lag jati. Besides, I wanted to hug the secret to myself for a bit before sharing it with everybody.
Are you excited?
Yes, Ram [husband Dr Sriram Nene] and I are very happy. We have been looking at different names [for the baby], but as long as we have a healthy baby, we will be thrilled.
Is this your last visit to India?
I was here to celebrate Diwali with my parents and launch the Emami products, which I have been working on researching and endorsing for the last two years. Ram will be there to hold my hand in the operation theatre when I deliver my baby in the US next year. So yes this is my last visit here for a while.
Do you use the Emami products?
Oh yes! In fact, the reason I chose to endorse the products was because I would be hands-on with it and it was something that suited my personality. In fact, I have just shampooed my hair with one from the Emami Line. I want to know what is being bottled along with my name.
What about films?
I haven't planned for them yet. As of now, I am taking a break. After so many years of working nonstop, it's time I took one.
I am never going to give it up. I am just going to put my feet up and maybe come back after a while. I can never break my ties off from the film world and India.
