This South Indian actress played Gujarati girl Nandini with ease. While the first half of the film saw her as a bubbly girl in love, the second half saw her as a mellow, dispirited woman searching for her lost love.

In an author-backed role, Ash also gave rein to her dancing abilities.

Ash won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for this film.
