Police sergeant Bapi Sen, who was beaten unconscious by five of his colleagues when he tried to stop them from harassing a woman, died in a Kolkata hospital on Monday.
Police sources said Sen, who was on life support system, passed away at 0630 IST.
A traffic sergeant, Sen, was assaulted by five policemen on the new year's eve. Two of them were arrested on January 1, while the rest surrendered in a court the next day.
