The news of the Supreme Court granting bail to Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati on Monday has been received with great enthusiasm by mutt followers in Kanchipuram.
Devotees, who came to the mutt, were beaming, though mutt officials did not make any comments.
The joy of Bharatiya Janata Party activists knew no bounds. They burst crackers in front of the mutt premises and elsewhere in the temple town.
On the mutt premises, for the first time after nearly two months, drums were sounded during the pooja. After the seer's arrest in November, poojas and other daily religious routines had been a low-key affair in the mutt.
