Bharatiya Janata Party's Tamil Nadu unit has entered into an electoral alliance with the Janata Party for the May 8 assembly polls.

Under the agreement, the Janata party would contest five constituencies, including Melur, Omalur, Perambur, Madurai Central and Mylapore, said a press release issued by BJP state President C P Radhakrishnan and Janata party president Chandralekha on Tuesday in Madurai.
Janata party President Dr Subramanian Swamy in a press release, justified the alliance, saying it would enable Hindus to stand up and fight the 'insults' heaped on them by the Dravidian parties and also for the state's due share in national investments.

He alleged that both the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam fronts had failed to develop Tamil Nadu in the last 40 years. The same applied on the Mullaperiyar dam issue. They had also failed to get Muthuramalinga Thevar's statue installed in Parliament.
He said the Janata party will release its manifesto on April 14.
