Security has been tightened in all three airports in Kerala -- Thiruvananthapuram ,Kochi and Kozhikode -- after a warning from the Air India Mumbai office that there is a possibility of an LTTE attack on Kerala airports.
CISF commandant in-charge Rajeev Panth has called a special meeting to review the security at all the three airports .
Sources told rediff.com that there has been an active operation of the LTTE in the state and of late there were reports that the LTTE is having a "loose arrangement" with certain fringe Maoist groups and some Islamist organizations in the state. A top-ranking intelligence official said some former Naxalite leaders in the state are in touch with the terror elements in Sri Lanka.
Recently, small-time boat builders in Kochi and surrounding areas were interrogated by the state police and central intelligence agencies following reports of LTTE having procured small boats from the area.
The Kerala police are also on the trail of a Tamil doctor and a medical representative from Alappuzha for having procured life-saving medicines from the state and smuggled across to the LTTE.
