"There is not going to be any conflict of interest because I have not taken up this job to create conflict of interest.
I will make sure that we have the highest standards of integrity, openness, transparency and process in all procurement. A slightest issue (and) I will recuse myself from the decision," Nilekani said in an interview to a TV channel.
The new agency for providing biometric-ID to over one billion citizens will involve multi-crore procurement from IT vendors, which may include Infosys Technologies, TCS, Wipro, and Mahindra Satyam as well.
Nilekani has just resigned as co-chairman of the country's second-largest software exporting firm.However, the Infosys spokesperson did not comment on whether the company would participate in the UID bids expected in the near future.
