Indians out of rowingThe Rediff TeamAt the Regatta Centre in Sydney, India's Kasam Khan (bow) and Inderpal Singh (stroke) dropped out of the race for medals in the Men's Coxless Pairs Repechage. In the qualifying race, the Indian pair came in 5th in a field of six, timing 1:16.94 over the 1500 metre course. The pairs from Argentina, Slovakia, Poland and Germany advanced into the semifinals. The Indians got off to a slow start, getting to the 500 metre mark a good five seconds behind the Germans pair that turned in the quickest timings. From that point on, the Indians never really recovered, fading away over the final stretch to come home just ahead of the 6th placed pair from Egypt.
