JCT scrape past Tollygunge

Helped by a controversial goal from Hardip Saini, JCT Mills, Phagwara, scraped past Tollygunge Agragami 1-0 in a National Football League match in Ludhiana on Wednesday.

After a goalless first half, JCT got the all-important but not before Tollygunge raised objections and questioned the referee's decision to award the goal.

Saini dodged rival custodian Amit Singha Roy and essayed a shot at goal. The Tollygunge players tried to make a goalline save but the referee rule that the ball had crossed the goalline before it was cleared.

JCT, who are in 11th position in the points tally, mustered strength to score their fourth victory in the tournament.

Tollygunge have 20 points.

Tollygunge played with two foreign recruits -- Moses Norra of Kenya and Akeem Abaloneli of Nigeria. JCT too had two foreigners in their ranks - Stephen Singh and Shaminder Singh.

JCT take on Vasco on April 15 in their concluding match of the league at the Guru Nank stadium in Ludhiana.
