BMFC score second victory
Bengal Mumbai Football Club scored once in each half to beat Indian National Football Club 2-0 in a fourth round match and register their second victory in the Second Division National Football League (final phase) in Pondicherry on Sunday.
The victory took BMFC's points tally to six and put them in third place behind Dempo Sports Club and Indian Bank.
In a lacklustre encounter, BMFC opened their account in the 40th minute, when Enail Vartazarian found the net with a fine header following a flag-kick by Ram Ishwar Mehato.
Thereafter, both the sides made some quick moves. However, neither could convert the chances that came their way and the scoreboard remained 1-0 in favour of BMFC at the breather.
After the break, BMFC made some quick raids into the rival citadel. However, they fell prey time and again to the off-side trap laid by the Delhi side.
INFC missed a fine chance in the 70th minute to draw level. Robert Kakoi Lusweti collected the ball, ran down the right flank and shot at goal. However, custodian Rehman dived to his right and fisted the ball back into play. Before Cassuis Akumu Owino could pounce on it, BMFC defender Sajid cleared to safety.
However, the INFC citadel that fell again in the 83rd minute when Mahoto found the net. Mahoto collected a pass from Songachan Zimik from the right flank, dribbled past the defenders and shot home with a fine left footer.
