Anjali wins gold in 10 metres Air Rifle singles

Indian's Anjali (Vedpathak) Bhagwat and Suma Shirur won the gold and the silver respectively in the women's 10 metres Air Rifle singles in the Commonwealth Games shooting competition on Thursday.

Anjali aggregated 500.8 points to finish ahead of her team-mate Suma ended up with 500.0.

It was Anjali's third gold at the Games following her triumphs in the 10 metre Air Rifle pairs and 50m Rifle 3 positions pairs.

Louise Minett of England took the bronze with 494.8.

It was Minett's second bronze following her third place finish in the pairs with Victoria Eaton.

Meanwhile, Samresh Jung added one more silver to India's tally winning in the men's 50m Pistol singles event with a score of 652.8 points.

Earlier, Samresh had won the gold along with Vivek Singh in the men's 50m Pistol pairs event.

England's Michael Gault won the gold with 657.5 points.

The Indian marskmen have already improved upon their tally of four gold, three silver and two bronze medals collected in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, collecting nine gold, six silver and three bronze medals in Manchester.
