Tollygunge score over Punjab Police

Tollygunge Aggragami overcame some anxious moments before getting the better of Punjab Police 2-1 in a sixth National Football League match at the Salt Lake stadium in Kolkata on Sunday.

In a match which seldom rose to great heights, the home team conceded an early goal but recovered splendidly, with the dependable Sashti Duley and newcomer Asim Biswas firing in the goals.

The policemen, who are placed at the bottom of the points table, shot into the lead through their striker Parveen Kumar but could not sustain the tempo as the Kolkata challengers clawed back into the game.

Both the teams were locked 1-1 at the interval.

Tollygunge sealed the fate of their rivals early in the second session with a brilliant effort from Asim Biswas, who was impressive right through the match.

With this win, Tollygunge have six points from seven outings while Punjab Police have just three from one victory in seven outings.

The match was played in front of empty galleries, with just a few hundred spectators turning up.
