India beat South Korea again

India scored their second successive victory over South Korea within a week, when they beat the Olympic silver medallists 2-0 in the Four-nation hockey tournament in Melbourne, Australia, on Thursday.

India, who had beaten the Koreans 3-2 for the first time since the final of the 1998 Asian Games on Sunday in the first leg of their Australian tour at Adelaide, struck once in each half through Gagan Ajit Singh and Tejbir Singh, from a penalty-stroke, to post their first victory from two matches in the second leg of the four-nation tournament at Melbourne.

In the other match of the day, Australia scored their second straight victory, beating Malaysia 4-1.

On Tuesday, the Aussies had beaten the Koreans 3-1, while India went down fighting to Malaysia 3-2.

Friday is a rest day. On Saturday, South Korea face Malaysia while Australia play India in the final series of round-robin matches.

The tournament final is scheduled for Sunday, after which Australia will name its team for the Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England.
