ITI score over Tollygunge Aggragami
Indian Telephone Industries, Bangalore, played fast and exciting football to get the better of Tollygunge Aggragami 3-2 in their National Football League match, at the Salt Lake stadium, in Kolkata, on Sunday.
Leading 1-0 at half-time by virtue of a Mohammad Salissu goal,
the winners scored through Nitin Pradhan and Mike Okoro in the
second session to emerge triumphant and stay among the frontrunners in the
high-profile league, with 25 points from 15 matches.
Sasthi Duley and Kenyan, Moses Oweera found the target for
the local team, who showed purpose upfront but had to pay the
price for crucial defensive lapses in a closely-fought encounter.
The Tollygunge players were also unable to cope up with the
speed of ITI strikers Pradhan and Okoro, who repeatedly caused
havoc in their defence.
Nigerian acquisition Okoro, in particular, was in awesome form,
outwitting the Tollygunge defenders on a number of occasions. The frustration in the Tollygunge ranks was evident when their defender Satish Bharti, in a desperate bid to stop the Nigerian, pulled at his jersey in the 80th minute and had to leave the field after picking up his second yellow card, thus reducing his side to ten men for the remainder of the match.
Following today's reverse, Tollygunge remain on 18 points
after 15 outings.
