Bottom-placed Punjab Police
hold Tollygunge goalless

Tollygunge Aggragami frittered away chances galore and were held goalless by bottom-placed Punjab Police in a Tata National Football League match, at the Guru Gobind Singh stadium, in Jalandhar, on Thursday.

Tollygunge should have taken the lead in the 25th minute but a right-footer from Bisrandh Minded went sailing over the crossbar.

In the second half, they had a golden opportunity in the 57th minute, when their Nigerian striker Akeem Abolondi, after breaking past the cops' defence, sent a through pass to Mehtab Hussian, but the latter shot wide off the right post.

In the last 15 minutes of the match, the Tollygunge strikers launched a series of attacks but the police deep defence frustrated their moves. Their best chance came in the closing stages, when Moses Ovea beat two defenders and placed the ball past the diving cops' custodian Satish Kumar, but Gurinderpal ran in to bring off a goalline save.
