CPI-M turns down TMC's appeal

The Communist Party of India-Marxist in Tamil Nadu has rejected Tamil Maanila Congress president G K Moopanar's appeal to reconsider its decision to contest the Lok Sabha poll on its own, and be a partner in the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-TMC combine.

Party secretary N Sankariah said it was funny that instead of giving a seat, the TMC was appealing them to stay in the Front.

Referring to the TMC's offer of a Rajya Sabha seat, he said Moopanar seemed to have forgotten the elections were being held to the Lok Sabha and not to the Upper House.

In all, six CPI-M candidates have filed their nominations.
