The Finance Ministry on Monday initiated an e-Office programme directed towards a paperless office by enabling access to internal information for its employees through any computer.
"The implementation of this system is expected to improve the employee productivity by introducing collaborative working in digital workspace and thus pave the way towards paperless office," an official statement said.
Finance Secretary Ashok Chawla launched the e-Office programme developed by National Informatics Centre.
"e-Office provides a platform for personalised, role based, secure access to internal information for the employees that is accessible through any browser," it said.
The salient features of the programme include unified view of data, content and document management, collaboration and messaging services with SMS interface, single standards based directory service, identity and access management role and integration of applications, it added.
