Essar Group's IT and BPO arm, Aegis, is open to acquisitions in the Indian BPO segment which would help it grow rapidly in its core business, a top company official said.

"We are open to both organic and inorganic growth domestically. We would acquire an Indian BPO company if it is strategically significant to us," Aparup Sengupta, managing director and global CEO, Aegis told PTI.

Besides, Aegis is also looking at strategic investments in Latin America and Africa, Sengupta said, adding the company currently has 6-7 deals in the pipeline.

"We are also venturing into Enterprise Global Shared Services (E-Gloss) in a big way. Here too, we are open to both organic and inorganic way in this arena too," he said.

The company plans to acquire four companies every year as a part of its growth strategy, he said.  Recently, Aegis announced the buying of a majority stake in AGC Networks from Avaya of the US for $44.5 million (Rs 206-crore).

"We have entered into a definitive agreement, under which the Essar Group would acquire Avaya's entire 59.13 per cent stake in BSE/NSE-listed AGC Networks for Rs 206.19 crore (Rs 2.06 billion), or Rs 245 a share, subject to regulatory requirements and completion of the open offer," Sengupta said.
