Hussain bids adieu
"By Sunday night, sitting in my room at the Landmark Hotel, a few miles from here at Lord's, I decided the time was right for me to go," said former England skipper Nasser Hussain while announcing his retirement.
On May 27 2004, the Chennai-born Hussain decided to hang up his boots after an illustrious 14-year career that saw him lead England to some of its finest victories - both as batsman and skipper.
His teammate Marcus Trescothick believed 'it was a perfect ending for a great guy getting a century at Lord's in his farewell innings and then a dignified, but emotional, retirement from the game'.
